OJB slams juliet ibrahim for $100,00 kidney transplant comment

OJB
Ghanaian actress Juliet Ibrahim posted a message on her instagram page last week saying kidney transplant does not cost more than $50k and wondered why people raising funds for OJB were requesting for $100, 000.
OJB has responded to her. The ailing music producer and singer told Encomium magazine:
“The mistake she’s making is that it depends on the hospital you are going to in India. She says she runs a foundation, they might give her a rebate. The procedure itself is $55, 000. When you take out $55, 000, you are left with $45, 000. What about the running cost of the procedure? You don’t go to India only to come back and start asking for help again. At least, I need some money to maintain myself for the next one year. So when you factor in all these costs, add air tickets and lodging, you will appreciate what we are talking about

Kim kardashian and Kenya west turn down their daughter $3m photo deal

kim, kanye baby
North West isn’t ready for her close-up just yet. The first daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West won’t be making her big debut in the spotlight anytime soon — for any price. The media-savvy couple have yet to share any photos of their tiny bundle of joy since welcoming her into the world on June 15, though they’ve been offered a whopping $3 million from an Australian magazine to do so.
“Kanye’s been adamant about not having the baby on the show,” an insider tells Us Weekly. “He was serious when he said North isn’t America’s baby, so he may not do anything.”
The rapper’s protective, paternal instincts move beyond just maintaining North’s image, however. West, 36, has been a doting father to his daughter, becoming a “super worrywart” over her and trying to stay by her side as much as possible.
“Kim told him it was good to get out!” a friend of the Yeezus rapper tells Us. “He couldn’t wait to get back. North is all they talk about.”
His new family-centric attitude is even starting to affect Kardashian, 32, who has toned down her usual social media frenzy in the past few weeks, only breaking her silence to wish sister Khloe a happy 29th birthday on Thursday, June 27.
“Motherhood has changed her,” a source tells Us.

NLC Cations FG over ASUU strike

AS the ongoing nationwide strike by Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, enters the third day, Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has warned of the impact of the strike on students and the educational sector in the country.
It called on government to not only end the strike immediately by implementing the agreements it entered into with ASUU, but also declare a state of emergency in education.
NLC said in a statement, yesterday, that while the strike was completely avoidable, but made inevitable by Federal government’s insensitivity and penchant for reneging on agreements, Congress found it completely unacceptable that government refused to implement agreements it willingly entered into.
The statement by NLC President, Abdulwaheed Omar, argued that the issues articulated by ASUU were not self-serving but tenable, valid and germane to the sustenance of a qualitatively viable education system.
According to the statement “in a nutshell, these issues include, the lingering crisis at the Rivers State University of Technology, RSUST; the continued violation of the rights of the re-engaged 49 academics at the University of Ilorin; the non-release of the White Paper on Special Visitation to the University of Abuja; the parlous state of the economy and government’s disregard for its agreements.”

Banky W in 24hours

Good looking Bank W, was born Olubankole Wellington to Nigerian parents in the United States of America. Since returning home to pursue a career in music, the musician with a sultry voice, has clearly established himself as a master in the R&B genre.
For his effort in music, his awards and nominations are legion. His first effort, Undeniable in 2003, earned him the 2003 R&B/Soul Artist of the Year at the Urban Independent Music Awards. Since then, several other awards have followed.
In 2006 alone, he won the John Lennon Song Writing Award 2006, R&B Category, for ‘My Regret’ and also emerged Best R&B Artiste, Nigerian Entertainment Awards. That same year, in the USA, the stylish artiste who has made the fedora hat his signature style, was the Best Male R&B Artiste courtesy, Urban Independent Music Awards.
The R&B crooner, fondly called Mr. Capable, spoke to Allure on what his typical day is like. Enjoy it.
“A typical day in my life starts from when I wake up. First, I try to say a little prayer to get my day started. Then I go out to work out with my trainer Uzi. He is the younger brother of Ikechukwu. He is an amazing physical trainer.  He tries to get me into shape so that I can look like Peter from P-quare. After my training, I come home, shower and dress for work.
Banky W
Banky W
When dressing for work, the number one consideration for me is comfort. I like to be comfortable so even if I am wearing a suit, it has to fit properly. I wear a lot of traditional outfits these days because they are comfortable. Other than comfort, you should dress how you want to present yourself and how you want people to perceive you.
If you come out looking like a bump, then people will react to you in a certain way. So, the key for me is comfort.
Then I try to eat a healthy meal. For breakfast, I can eat whatever I like. I like chicken a lot especially, chicken breasts. I also like some sea foods just a little bit.
It could be shrimps or whatever. After breakfast, my day becomes fast paced but each day varies depending on the things I have to do for that day. I could be in the studio or have an interview with the press or have a meeting with people trying to negotiate deals for the label.
I could also have an event where I am performing or speaking. Depending on the day, generally, that is how I work.
I have an office but I don’t go there every day depending on what I have to do. If I have a meeting to attend in the office, then I go there otherwise, I could be at home and work from there.
At work, I oversee the musical side of the artists. It is either I work in the studio or we oversee their careers in terms of positioning our artists, working with  different corporate clients to see how we can perform at different platform or liaise with different companies  to find a cross marketing like me and Samsung or Wizkid and Pepsi. So we do a lot of strategic thinking and planning, and negotiations in this regard.
Like I said earlier, it all depends on the day. For example, there are events you attend where you have to attend an after-party or you just feel like letting loose a little bit and hang out with my people. Events like that, could keep me  out a little bit.
The least favourite aspect of my job is when I have to do photo-shoots. I hate photo-shoots. I love video shoots because it seems that I am playing a role in a short movie. Photo-shoots I hate like I hate taking pictures at events. I find it really annoying because you stand there and you are expected to strike poses and do all the random things you do when doing a photo-shoot.
Even though I don’t like it, I have to do it because obviously, I need pictures for my CD covers and interviews. I don’t enjoy it at all. So I try to limit them. I really shouldn’t be saying this because my manager will be upset with me. I only do photo-shoots when I have a new album coming out.
So, when I do that shoot, I try to take as many different pictures as I can so that they will leave me alone at least for the next two years. But they are necessary, because people need to see you and connect with your image as well. So it is a necessary evil. So that is the least favourite aspect of my work’’.

I'm no longer exposing my breasts- Mercy Johnson

Mercy johnson
Beautiful and talented actress, Mercy Johnson in a recent interview talks about her career, motherhood and her future plans.
You were at OJB’s house to see him and donate money, now you are here to donate to the Boys Reform Home in Lagos. What’s the idea?
No idea, we are just promoting the ideals of Mercy Johnson Foundation. The idea is to identify the needs, evaluate and help in our own little way. All fingers are not equal; those in position to help should do so without hesitation. You will be hearing a lot about Mercy Johnson Foundation from now on. We have put our house in order and now ready to help those we can.
I strongly believe that as stars we should live beyond the euphoria of stardom and the moment. We will not always be here, what happens if you look back and realise you could do a lot to make the world better when you had the spotlight and you didn’t? I want to live beyond the moment.
Why the reform homes in Lagos?
I know I’m not glamorous to a lot of people, but we must know that if we do charitable things for publicity alone, we defeat the purpose. We need to find ways to reform young boys and girls otherwise they will make life uncomfortable for the children of the privileged. At this point, I must commend the government of Lagos State for making efforts at reforming the kids. We are looking at what we can do with the state to help make the future of these children better.

Motherhood seems to have changed you…

Yes, motherhood changes women. You begin to see yourself as a co-creator. You begin to see yourself as a protector. Few days ago, I was feeding Purity and she started dragging the bottle with me with the hot water in it. She pushed the bottle, I had to quickly push her away from the water and let it pour on my arm instead. That’s the kind of protection I am talking about. I think it will also make you feel more responsible for other children as well. You begin to see them as children of some other mothers. You have a sense of responsibility to want to protect them as well.

How are you coping with your husband and the baby?

There’s nothing like coping, he’s making my job easier. He dots on her. He carries her, feeds and does everything for her such that she misses him when he’s not around.  You won’t believe she sleeps on his chest every night. He understands whatever adjustment I need to make when it comes to the baby. He’s a loving father.
What about being a loving husband?
He’s the best thing that happened to me. People usually say men are not reliable, in the case of my husband he’s a blessing. It’s obvious we are his priority.
So, your step of faith is paying off?
Yes. I am not saying its perfect, but this is close to perfection. If this is what it feels to be married, I want to marry my husband again and again.
How come you took a break and still returned as number one in Nollywood?
There’s nothing like number one in Nollywood.  We are all doing our jobs; it’s just that some people are busier than others. I’m glad of what God has given me.
What should we expect from you career-wise?
I’m trying to be more selective with what I do. If the script is not good, I don’t want to do it. Our market is getting core aware and advanced as the day goes by.

How come you are not an ambassador of any brand yet?

We are having discussion with a couple of brands, when we agree with the terms, you will hear from us. However, I need to quickly point out that Mercy Johnson is a blend of youth and family brand. We just can’t stand and represent any brand.
If it’s not representing the youths, which is our major consistency or the family, we will not be favourably disposed to it. I can’t at this point be ‘hawking’ cleavages in the name of promoting brand.  Things have changed; this is the beginning of a new era for me.

#BBATheCase: Bolt and Maria kicked out

maria and bolt
This week, Annabel, Bolt, Dillish, Hakeem, Maria and Natasha were on the chopping block and it was left to Africa to decide who stays. Africa saved Annabel, Dillish, Hakeem, Pokello and Natasha from possible Eviction while Sierra Leone’s Bolt and Namibia’s Maria were shown the exit door.
Bolt now has a chance to reunite with Ethiopia’s Betty who was Evicted in Week 4 and they can handle their businesses henceforth without the hawk eyes of the Big brother cameras. Perhaps Bolt won’t be so surprised as he has known all week that he was up for possible eviction tonight but for Maria, the story was quite different.
A rather shocked Maria who has never been up for eviction looked on helplessly as the Diamond HOH for the week,Nando announced that he saved and replaced himself with Maria. Before the consequence of this switch could settle in,IK announced the eviction of the beautiful Namibian.
Once again Malawi’s Natasha and Zimbabwe’s Pokello survived the chopping block,Remember Natasha and has been up for eviction more times than any other housemates but luck keeps shinning on the Malawian and once again she can hang loose.
Evictees so far are #LK4 and #Denzel from Uganda,#Koketso from South Africa, #Biguesas and#Neyll from Angola,#Kenya’s Huddah, Botswana’s#Motamma,Sierra Loene’s  Bolt,Maria from Namibia and Ethiopia’s #Betty.

chris brown and karrueche are back again

karrueche and chris
Chris Brown and Karrueche Tran have sparked fresh rumours they are back together after the model sent R&B star Chris a special good luck message ahead of the BET Awards 2013.
“My baby. Good luck today,” Karrueche simply posted alongside the picture of her cradling Chris’ head against her stomach.
Looks like the luck helped, with Brown scooping the Fandemonium Award for the fourth year in a row.
Chris Brown likes to keep us guessing over who he’s dating exactly, but it looks like he could be officially back with Karrueche after the couple appeared to attend the BET Awards together in LA last night.
While they have yet to confirm they are an item, a loved up snap of Tran, apparently from backstage ahead of the award show, appears to give that impression.
The star kicked off the BET awards 2013 show with a performance of his tracks Fine China and Don’t Think They Know before surprising the crowd with duet with Nicki Minaj for Love More. A report from Perez Hilton calls the performance “hot, hot, hot.”
Following the win Brown partied in style taking to Twitter to share his excitement with fans.

Man sues television station because they use too many english words

One man did not like the fact that his local television station was using English words so he decided to do something to stop it, according to a new lawsuit filed in court.
demanding nearly one and a half million yen in damages.

The pensioner, who is a member of "The Treat Japanese as Important Association", believes that broadcasters in Japan are too dependent on the use of English words, instead of traditional Japanese.

His lawyer, Mutsuo Miyata, said: "The basis of his concern is that Japan is very Americanized. There is a sense of crisis that this country is becoming just a province of the United States."

Since World War Two, Japan has ??regularly borrowed words from other languages. For example, most Japanese speakers use "problem", "risk", "unity" and "parking" in everyday conversations.

Japan also uses words from other countries, such as Germany, France and Spain.

Why Dolphins make us Nervous

What is it about dolphins? They have very, very big brains, and that makes we humans, whose brains are nothing to sniff at, nervous. We don't know what to make of them.

Robert Krulwich/NPR
The latest example: On May 17 in India, the Ministry of Environment and Forests to all Indian states banning dolphin amusement parks. No leaping out of pools to catch balls, no jumping through hoops. Forcing dolphins to entertain humans, the ministry said, was morally unacceptable.
"Cetaceans [dolphins, whales and porpoises] in general are highly intelligent and sensitive," the Ministry said, "and various scientists who have researched dolphin behavior have suggested that [they have] unusually high intelligence ... compared to other animals."
This means, the Indian ministry went on: "that dolphins should be seen as 'non-human persons' and as such should have their own specific rights." "Non-human persons" — what a pregnant phrase! People-like, but not like people.

India's putting dolphins (and the other cetaceans) into a new legal category that classifies them as beings nearer to ourselves, with an emotional life that, if we could talk to them, or listen in to whatever they're saying, we might find familiar. I'm thinking of the famous New Yorker cartoon that shows two dolphins swimming side-by-side, where one of them says to another, "If I could do only one thing before I died, it would be to swim with a middle aged couple from Connecticut." (Which you can .)
You may giggle, but the joke hurts. Big-brained animals almost certainly wouldn't want to spend years lugging polyester-skinned mammals across shallow swimming pools six days a week, or juggling colorful balls with their rostrums (noses). Their brains suggest they've got better things to do. What, we're not sure. All we know is, being a dolphin has to be a very different from being a person, an experience we can only guess at.

And yet, because of those brains, it's hard not to slip into thinking of them as if they were variants of us. This happened to me, instantly, last year, when I read that the U.S. Navy had decided to "retire" a group of mine-detecting dolphins, replacing them with robots.
Twenty-four dolphins, after years of service, were being "reassigned," , so that sea drones, or unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs, in Navy parlance) could take their place. The Navy had its reasons. The robots didn't need constant feeding, medical attention, cages and rest. They didn't need seven years of training. Robots could do the job on day one for less — much less. So the dolphins got sacked.
And I thought, what? And, instantly, each of those dolphins became a Norma Rae, fists (fins?) clenched, crying "UNFAIR!" After giving their whole careers to the Navy, sniffing for underwater mines to protect our ships and harbors, this is the thanks they get? That, of course, was my mind shouting; what the dolphins were thinking, if they even noticed the change, is anybody's guess.
Dolphin protesting
Robert Krulwich/NPR
Which is the puzzle. The deep puzzle.
I can understand why an animal that looks like us, a gorilla or an orangutan, with their familiar faces and gestures would get our attention and respect. But dolphins don't blink like we do, don't gaze thoughtfully or frown (ever). Their faces are like masks, and yet, because an organ hidden in their heads, because their brain resembles ours in size, we ignore their different shape, their different habitat, their alien-ness, and we embrace them as "non-human persons."
To be fair, their brains are big. Lori Marino, a dolphin expert at Emory University, that dolphin brains are about "five times larger for their body size when compared to another animal of similar size," meaning their brains are almost as disproportionately large as ours. We are seven times the norm. "Not a huge difference," she says.
The part of the brain dedicated to abstract thinking, the neocortex, in a dolphin brain is "more highly convoluted than our own," she said, and it is her opinion that dolphins are capable of complex, subtle thinking. You don't have a brain like that for no reason.
We Haven't Cracked The Code
So what's the reason? Dolphin scientists assume these animals are very social and communicate constantly, and the brains they have are designed to manage all that inter-dolphin messaging. As to what they're talking about — we haven't cracked the code. But because we, the other big brained species, have used our brains to organize armies, to re-design landscapes, to invade the sky, to dominate all the continents and to wipe out almost all the other large animals, we may have the faint suspicion that if they choose, dolphins could do likewise. It's a possibility that we can't completely dismiss. We just don't know.
Well — that's not right. One of us knows. The late and very lamented British writer, satirist, and wildlife explorer Doug Adams, in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, explained that "on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much — the wheel, New York, wars and so on — whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man — for precisely the same reasons."
Maybe that's why they fascinate us. What if, after tens of thousands of years conquering and murdering and dominating, it turns out that leaping, diving and mucking around in the water is what the real smarties do?

I wonder why one person should own houses in Ikoyi, asokoro, dubai and his not using them for anythimg-PETER OBI

ENUGU — Chairman of South-East Governors’ Forum and Anambra State Governor, Mr.
*Gov Peter Obi
*Gov Peter Obi
, said Sunday that he would retire from active politics at the expiration of his second term in February next year.
The governor spoke in Enugu during the thanksgiving service and award ceremony to mark the end of the 2nd Session of the 15th Synod of Anglican Diocese of Enugu at St. Bartholomew’s Church, Asata, Enugu.
He lamented that the level of greed among political office holders in the country was very disturbing, saying it was wrong to use public funds to amass wealth whereas the poor masses were left in abject poverty.
His words: “A very prominent person called today and asked me: what is your plan concerning politics after your current tenure? I’m telling you now what I told him.
”For me, I have come to the end of it; I want to quit and rest. However, I have been praying to God that for the sake of the good people of Anambra State, please give them somebody like Peter Obi.
”The level of greed in Nigeria is overwhelming, where people can’t see the suffering of other people, they are just accumulating wealth. For me, it is time to go.
”I wonder why one person should own houses in Ikoyi, Asokoro, Dubai and he is not using them for anything. People accumulate what they don’t need. It is madness. The level of greed in Nigeria is intolerable.
”I want all of us to be praying for Nigeria, so that God will touch the heart of our leaders to use public money for the people. In Anambra State, we have never borrowed money, despite all the works we are doing but we have continued to do good for our people.”
Cost of running  gov’s office
Obi, whose speech was greeted with a loud applause from the congregation, further lamented the level of financial waste in government, stressing that the cost of running a governor’s office in Nigeria was too much.
”When I came in as governor, I discovered that the state had 70 workers in Abuja liaison office. Apart from their salary, we spend close to N15 million maintaining that office. They have nothing doing there than to come to the airport and welcome me whenever I visited, constituting nuisance. So we re-deployed the workers and closed down the place. Till date, we have not missed them, which means they were really doing nothing there.
”I  urge all of us to pray for greedy people in this country; they are accumulating what they don’t need, stop accumulating things for your children,” he charged politicians, stressing that he had never bought a car for any of his children.
”I have told them to buy cars when they make their money. I have also never celebrated birthday for them. They can do that when they leave my house. We should stop wasting public fund.”
The Anglican Bishop of Ijebu South West, Rt. Rev. Dr. Babatunde Ogunbanwo had earlier in his homily charged Christians to have a right view of Jesus Christ in order to overcome the challenges of life.
Speaking on the theme “overcoming the challenges of the time”, at the service presided over by the Bishop Emmanuel Chukwuma of the Enugu Diocese, Bishop Ogunbanwo observed that the society was no longer conscious of good virtues, stressing that lesbianism, homosexuality, nudity, terrorism, suicide bombing and greed had all become part of life.
”Therefore, you must make deliberate effort to remain focused as a Christian, you must have a right view of the world and your position”, he advised.
Highlight of the event was presentation of award to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Reps, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, Prince Engr. Arthur Eze and Unoma Ekaete Akpabio, wife of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio.
