Joan Rivers funeral wish- I want a wind machine in my casket, I want to be buried in valentino gown
Above
is Joan River's funeral requests written in her 2012 book, I Hate
Everyone...Starting With Me. Meanwhile it's been revealed that her
funeral will take place on Sunday September 7th at the Temple Emanu-El in New York. See some more memorable quotes from the book after the cut...
On what she wants for her own funeral
"When I die, I want my funeral to be a huge showbiz affair with lights, cameras, action...I want Craft services, I want paparazzi and I want publicists making a scene! I want it to be Hollywood all the way. I don't want some rabbi rambling on;
I want Meryl Streep crying, in five different accents. I don't want a eulogy; I want Bobby Vinton to pick up my head and sing "Mr. Lonely." I want to look gorgeous, better dead than I do alive. I want to be buried in a Valentino gown and I want Harry Winston to make me a toe tag. And I want a wind machine so that even in the casket my hair is blowing just like Beyoncé's."

On obituaries
"I love the obituaries. To me, obituaries are just wedding announcements without the pictures. I read the obituaries carefully, the way Lindsay Lohan reads her Miranda rights."On people who die of natural causes
"I hate people who die of natural causes; they just don't understand the moment. It's the grand finale, act three, the eleven o'clock number — make it count. If you're going to die, die interesting! Is there anything worse than a boring death? I think not. When my time comes I'm going to go out in highs type. I have no intention of being sick or lingering or dragging on and on and boring everyone I know. I have no intention of coughing and wheezing for months on end. One morning you'll wake up and read a headline: Joan Rivers Found Dead...On George Clooney's Face. Clooney Was So Bereft All He Could Say Was, 'Xjfhfyrnem.'"On funerals
"I love funerals! To me a funeral is just a red carpet show for dead people. It's a chance for mourners from all walks of life to accessorize basic black, and to make a fashion statement that is bold enough to draw attention away from the bereaved but subtle enough so that no one knows that it's happening. And, it's a great way to have quiet fun."On people who offer condolences
"I hate people who try to make you feel better. Like the neighbor who says, 'Don't forget, the first part of 'funeral' is 'fun!' Or the minister who says, 'He's in a better place now.' I'm tempted to yell out, 'No he's not. He had a house in the Hamptons. What's wrong with you?""On the pick-up scene at funerals
"As I get older, I'm going to a lot more funerals, and let me tell you something, it's a great pick-up scene. A graveside funeral is live eHarmony for the bereaved."Finally!!! Atiku Abubakar declares interest in the 2015 presidential race

Even satan no go forgive am...Twin boys stabbed to death by their brother who then killed himself

Nine-year-old Patrick and Thomas O’Driscoll were dressed in their school uniforms when found dead in separate bedrooms by their younger brothers, aged three and five.
Their half-sibling Jonathan, 20, sped from the scene in Charleville, Co Cork, and was discovered hanged 15km away.
The tragic boys’ parents Tom and Ellen were shopping in nearby Kilmallock, Limerick, at the time.A security source told the Irish Mirror : “It was a frenzied attack, the boys were stabbed multiple times. It’s understood there are psychological issues involved.”
Other sources last night claimed Jonathan was adopted before the O’Driscolls later went on to have the twins.
The nine-year-olds, who were being minded by older sibling Jonathan, died in separate bedrooms hours after he collected them from school.
Their bloodied bodies were found shortly before 5pm by their younger brothers, aged three and five.
The toddlers then raced from the home and began screaming for help through a neighbour’s hedge. As a major emergency operation swung into action, Jonathan, 20, fled the scene.
He was found hanged from a tree by a riverbank in nearby Buttevant, an hour later.
The scene at the family home was last night described as horrific.
One source said: “Those poor little boys suffered a shocking death.”
Last night, the events leading to the shocking double killing remained unclear – but sources said the killer must have “just snapped”.
A next-door neighbour who raised the alarm said: “We were at home at about 5pm and the two young lads came over to the hedge.
“They were screaming at the top of their voices. They were roaring for my dad. We rang the [police] straight away.”
Schoolboys Patrick and Thomas – members of the settled Traveller community – were described by a neighbour as “a pair of rascals”.
Relatives were too distraught to comment last night.
Jonathan was minding the two boys while their parents were six miles away in Kilmallock, Co Limerick, and had collected them from Bawnogue school.
A car was seen driving away from the house after the attack in Deerpark, and just over an hour later Jonathan was found dead.
He was discovered by three children – a 10-year-old and two 14-year-olds.
HSE Air Corps air ambulance, based at Costume Barracks, Athlone, was dispatched to the family home to take the boys to hospital, however it was quickly stood down when it became clear the twins were already dead.
Ambulance crews from Mallow were met by the horrific bloody scene.
Around 30 grieving family members and friends gathered outside the small cottage, which was sealed off last night.
Local priest Fr Tom Naughton said the tragedy had shaken the entire community.
He added: “I am shocked, I know the family myself. I have prayed with the family before. Obviously any family who would have experienced a tragedy of this nature would be devastated.
“This it is deeply upsetting for any community, especially for one as close-knit as we are. We will offer our support to them, the whole community will be behind them at this very difficult time.”
Friends of the family took to Facebook last night to pay their respects, with one saying: “God it’s a sin what happened them two twins today, may God help the family that lost two beautiful children, may God give them a good bed in heaven.”
Another posted: “RIP to the two twins TomTom & Paddy that were stabbed to death, so sad two innocent children.”
A distant relative of the two boys said: “It really is a sin. God only knows what pain Thomas and Ellen are going through waiting years for their twin boys to only have nine years and their lives were taken.”
Police confirmed in a statement last night: “Officers in Charleville, Co Cork are investigating all the circumstances following the discovery of the bodies of two young boys in a house in Deerpark, Charleville shortly before 5pm on September 4.
“They were pronounced dead at the scene. The bodies remain at the scene and the area has been sealed off for technical examination, diversions are in place.
“The office of the State Pathologist has been notified and post mortemsare expected to be carried out."Source UK Mirror
This Man no they fear ooh...'Go ahead and sue me' - Australian negotiator tells Alimodu Sheriff

Speaking with TheCable today, Davis said if Alimodu Sheriff goes to court, evidences to prove he has connections with the sect will be produced.
"He is worried, is he? He knows that if he goes to court, the evidence will be produced and he cannot escape justice. Let him go to court if that is what he wishes. It is his right to do so. He will not be able to avoid close examination and then the facts will be known. Good luck to him if he decides to sue me in Australia. He can’t buy the judges here. Truth is not for sale. Australia has zero toleration for those who might sponsor terrorism." Continue...
No one should be above the law whether in Australia or Nigeria. Justice must be served for every Nigerian killed, every girl and boy kidnapped, every girl raped, every person who has lost their home in the course of this violence. It seems to me the extent of involvement of every person named by Boko Haram as a sponsor should be closely and thoroughly examined by the correct authorities. I read his defence on the media this week. Rather than come out as a statement of facts, it read like a novel of unconvincing fiction. In the last 48 hours, I have been in touch with some commanders of the group and they maintain their stand on Sheriff’s involvement. Sheriff’s ploy of casting himself as a victim is a poor attempt at disguising his sponsorship as alleged by the Boko Haram commanders.” he said

Al-Shabaab head of terrorist group in somali killed in U.S airstrike.

The Somali prime minister said on
Friday that Ahmed Godane, head of the Islamist militant group al
Shabaab, was killed in a U.S. strike this week, although the group that
is waging an insurgency against the government has yet to comment.
U.S.
officials had said on Wednesday that they were still checking to see
whether Monday's U.S. missile strike on an al Shabaab encampment had
killed Godane, who was appointed leader in 2008 after his predecessor
was killed in a U.S. attack.
"We
tell the Somalis that Godane is dead," Prime Minister Abdiweli Sheikh
Ahmed said on his Facebook page, the first government confirmation of

Ghen! Ghem! Court freezes Dangote’s accounts in 20 banks
No, not Aliko Dangote but his younger brother, Sani Dangote. According to reports, a
Federal High Court in Lagos today September 4th ordered 20 Commercial
banks in Nigeria to dishonour all withdrawal cheques from Sani
Dangote and his companies,
Dansa Foods Limited and Bulk Pack Services Limited until September 11th.
According to Punch, the high court judge, Justice Okon Abang, gave the order while presiding over a case brought against Dangote by Union Bank. Union Bank had dragged him and his companies to court over alleged refusal to pay up the N5.2bn loan granted his company since September, 2008.
In the affidavits in support of its suits, Union Bank Plc urged the court to urgently grant the mareva order because in a bid to evade payment of the loan, Dangote has been making frantic efforts to deplete the funds in the accounts of his companies, and that the bank’s investigations revealed that the defendants had started diverting the funds to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, Canada and Switzerland.
When the case was called up for hearing, the counsel to Dangote and his companies told the court that that they had filed objections challenging jurisdiction of the court to entertain the suit. Officials of Diamond and Zenith banks who were present revealed that Mr Dangote was owing them as well. Zenith Bank specifically said Dangote was indebted to the bank to the tune of seven million euros.
In view of the defendants’ objections contesting jurisdiction, the judge said the matter would be adjourned till September 11, 2014 to be able to take all the applications.

The
bank, through its lawyer, Mr. Chukwudi Enebeli had instituted suits
seeking an order of mareva injunction to restrain all the defendants’
banks in Nigeria- Access, CITI, Diamond, Ecobank, Enterprise, Fidelity, Keystone, Mainstreet, Skye, Wema, Heritage, Sterling, Unity, Zenith Banks, First Bank, First City Monument Bank, Guaranty Trust Bank, Stanbic IBTC, Standard Chartered Bank and United Bank for Africa - from allowing Mr Dangote and his companies to withdraw funds from their accounts pending the determination of the suits.

An official of the bank, Olufunmilola Ayoola, while speaking about the suit said the failure of Mr Dangote's companies to pay up the loan had
negatively affected the Nigerian economy, a development which the bank
claimed necessitated the suits. She said this has made the bank
handicapped in supporting small scale businesses because of the lack of
Funds.

French President's ex-girlfriend tells all intimate details in new book
Valerie Trierweiler, ex-partner of French President Francois
Hollande, settles some scores in a new book detailing their
relationship.
In "Thank You For This
Moment," released this week, the former French first lady describes the
end of her seven-year romance with Hollande. It fell apart after
pictures suggesting a liaison between Hollande and actress Julie Gayet
were published in the French tabloid Closer in January.
"I am losing it. I don't
want to hear this; I rush into the bathroom. I grab the little plastic
bag containing sleeping pills," Trierweiler writes of her reaction to
the pictures. She said Hollande snatched the bag of pills out of her
hands.
She later spent several days in the hospital, citing stress and fatigue.
Trierweiler said she confronted Hollande twice about rumors of an affair, once in March 2013 and again that December.
"I asked him: Swear on my
son's head that it's not true and I will never speak of it again," she
writes. He swore, she writes, but he also called the rumors "a load of
nonsense."
She portrays the French
President as a busy man who didn't have time for her anymore. She says
she felt "illegitimate" and "dehumanized" after Hollande took over the
presidency.
She felt those around the
President presented hurdles to the relationship, saying she was told
once by a member of Hollande's communication team: "If you want an
evening with Francois, you need to pass it through me."
Trierweiler says the
French President tried to win her back several times after the split.
She describes a man who's constantly afraid to lose.
"He tells me he needs
me," recalls Trierweiler in her book. "Every night he asks me out for
dinner. He said he would win me back as if I was an election."
Trierweiler and Hollande were never married.
The French newspaper Le
Parisien reports that Hollande was not aware of the book and was
"dismayed" to hear news of its publication.
This is not the first
time that Hollande's private life has been the subject of headlines in
French media. In 2007, he ended his relationship with Segolene Royal,
now the ecology minister in his Socialist government. French media
speculated that the split occurred because of Trierweiler.
The book comes out at a time when Hollande's popularity has sagged.
Excerpts from the book were published Thursday in the magazine Paris Match.
Gov. Amosun against Okada Man’s Arraignment, Remand In Prison.
Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State has dissociated himself from
the arraignment of an Okada rider, Wasiu Ogunnoiki, at the Sagamu
Magistrate Court 1 and his subsequent remand in prison custody for
posting unsubstantiated allegations against the governor on Facebook.
A Magistrate court 1 sitting in Sagamu, had on Tuesday, heard the
case of Mr Ogunnoiki (31), who was arraigned before it for engaging in
acts capable of denting the image of the governor on the social media
platform. This is the second time in the present dispensation that a
citizen will be arraigned for posting allegations against a governor on
Facebook.
Mr. Ogunnoiki was accused of engaging in acts that contravened Section 249 (d) of the Criminal Code, volume II Laws of Ogun state 2006 by publishing on his Facebook account that Governor Amosun demolished houses in the state without compensating affected property owners and in manners that could incite the public against the Governor.
But on Wednesday, Amosun said he could not find a single correlation between the offence for which the accused was charged and what he was alleged to have done.
He, subsequently, directed the state’s Ministry of Justice to look into the matter with a view to ensuring that Mr. Ogunnoiki’s fundamental human rights are not further infringed upon.
In a statement issued by the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mrs Abimbola Akeredolu, the governor noted that while his administration does not want to encourage indiscipline and abuse of rights, it will also not tolerate the infringement of rights of any citizen.
The statement reads in part: “the attention of Ogun State Government has been drawn to a report in the newspapers stating that an Okada rider in Sagamu has been charged to court and consequently remanded in prison custody for denting Governor ibikunle Amosun’s image on Facebook.
“I state categorically that the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun knows absolutely nothing about the allegations levelled against the Okada rider and the court case. The governor knew about the case only after reading the report in the newspapers.
“The governor consequently dissociate himself entirely from the any such action taken against the said Okada rider or indeed against any other person in that regard.
Senator Amosun, being a true democrat believes that all citizens are entitled to freedom of expression as enshrined in the Constitution of Nigeria.
“As the Chief Law Officer of the state, upon becoming aware of the report, I have examined the provisions of the law under which the Okada rider was allegedly charged to court and cannot find a single correlation between the offence for which he was charged and what he is alleged to have done.
“Nevertheless, the Governor has immediately directed the Ministry of Justice to urgently look into the matter to prevent the infringement of the Okada rider’s fundamental rights and bring an end to his continued remand in custody.

Senegal confirms first Ebola case
The West African country of Senegal has confirmed its first Ebola case one week after closing its border with Guinea over fears that the deadly outbreak could spread, the Senegalese Press Agency reported Friday.
Senegal is the fifth country in the region where the virus has spread.
Senegal's health
minister, Awa Marie Coll Seck, confirmed that a 21-year-old university
student from Guinea was infected with the Ebola virus and placed in
quarantine in the Fann Hospital in Dakar, the news agency reported.
Officials in Guinea alerted Senegal on Wednesday after losing track of the young man, the agency reported.
The man, who doesn't have any signs of bleeding, went to the hospital for a checkup, the agency said. His condition is stable.
On August 21, Senegal
closed its border with Guinea over fears of the Ebola outbreak, the
deadliest ever. The closure includes any aircraft and ships traveling to
Senegal from Guinea, Sierra Leone or Liberia.
Ebola spreads to a fifth country
The Ebola outbreak "continues to accelerate" in West Africa and has killed 1,552 people, the World Health Organization said Thursday.
The total number of cases
stands at 3,069, with 40% occurring in the past three weeks. "However,
most cases are concentrated in only a few localities," the WHO said.
The outbreak has been centered in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia, with a handful of cases in Nigeria.
The overall fatality rate is 52%, the WHO said, ranging from 42% in Sierra Leone to 66% in Guinea.
The case of the Conakry University student is the first one reported in Senegal, which is northwest of Guinea.
Sierra Leone and Liberia border Guinea to the southwest. Those three nations have been the epicenter of the Ebola outbreak.
Corpses in the three
countries are being buried without determining a cause of death, the WHO
says. Medical staff cannot keep up with current health demands,
especially with the limited supplies they have on hand.
Senegal is not the first
country to close its border during the outbreak. President Ellen
Sirleaf has shut most of Liberia's borders to contain the virus. The few
points of entry that are still open are testing people passing through
for Ebola. Guinea and Sierra Leone have done the same. Kenya, South
Africa and others in the region are also limiting travel to and from the
area.
On Friday, the WHO urged
countries to avoid actions that compromise Ebola response efforts, such
as closing borders and entry points or banning flights. The measures
isolate and stigmatize the affected countries, making it difficult to
transport supplies, the organization said via Twitter.
The crisis has taken a
heavy toll on health workers caring for those struck down by the virus.
The WHO said Monday that 120 health care workers have died in the Ebola
outbreak, and twice that number have been infected.
Justin Bieber charged with assault after ATV crash in Canada
Justin Bieber
was arrested on assault and dangerous driving charges stemming from an
alleged fight after his ATV collided with a mini-van in Canada Friday, a
police spokesman told CNN Tuesday.
The alleged incident happened on a road in Perth County, Ontario, the community where Bieber, 20, lived as a child.
"Investigation revealed
that after colliding, the driver of the ATV and an occupant of the
minivan engaged in a physical altercation," Ontario Provincial Police
spokesman Kees Wijnands said.
Justin Bieber's troubled timeline
Bieber's lawyer said the singer was being chased by people with cameras when the incident happened.
Bieber was enjoying a "peaceful retreat" at his father's home when it was interrupted by paparazzi, the lawyer said.
Online photos showed Bieber and girlfriend Selena Gomez cruising on an ATV Friday.
Bieber, who is already
facing an assault charge in Toronto, was released on "a promise to
appear" and ordered to answer the charges at a hearing in Stratford,
Ontario, on September 29, Constable Wijnands said.
The alleged victims of
Bieber's assault wasted no time in lawyering up against the singer. They
hired Los Angeles lawyer Gloria Allred, who also represents a woman who
complained to police that Bieber assaulted her at a Hollywood tourist
spot when she tried to take a photo of him with her cell phone.
"This is a serious matter
that could have an impact on Mr. Bieber's probation status in
California," Allred said in a statement to CNN Tuesday. "I have also
made contact on my clients' behalf with the Hollywood Branch of the Los
Angeles police department to make them aware of these new charges."
The young singer is on
probation in Los Angeles for a vandalism conviction that resulted from
his admission that he egged a neighbor's home last January. It would be
up to a California judge to decide if the Canadian arrest warrants a
probation revocation hearing, according to the spokeswoman for the Los
Angeles prosecutor.
Bieber made a $50,000 donation to a youth charity as part of a plea deal to settle a Miami drunken driving case last month.
Al Qaeda to open a new branch in india
(CNN) -- In a 55-minute long video, al Qaeda announced it will launch a new branch in the Indian subcontinent.Speaking in the video, al
Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri said the purpose is to "wage jihad
against its enemies, to liberate its land, to restore its sovereignty,
and to revive its Caliphate."Al-Zawahiri also said he seeks to gain support "for the vulnerable" in Myanmar and
Bangladesh; in the Indian states of Assam and Gujarat; and in Kashmir,
the disputed region between India and Pakistan. He called for "rescue"
from "injustice, oppression, persecution, and suffering" in these areas.
Some analysts view al
Qaeda's announcement as an indication they're struggling for followers
as ISIS gains support in the global Islamist movement.Peter Bergen, CNN's national security analyst called the video "hyperventilation and posturing.""It's al-Zawahiri's obvious way of getting some of the limelight back," he said as ISIS has moved front and center. The Indian government is
trying to confirm the video's authenticity, said Amarendra Tiwari, an
official with India's Ministry of Home Affairs. The security alert has
been issued in parts of India, although details were not given. The al Qaeda video is
unlikely to win over constituents, said Bernard Haykel, professor of
Near Eastern Studies at Princeton University, about the India
announcement."They are losing a lot of
constituents to the Islamic State," he said. "They're trying to show
their global reach as an organization, but I'm not sure of exactly what
sign they are trying to send."If ISIS undermines al
Qaeda, "it's going to affect funding," said Ajit Singh, senior fellow at
South Asia Terrorism Portal in New Delhi. The radicalized Muslims are
more likely to fund ISIS."That's why al Qaeda is
trying to increase its influence," he said. Singh says it's not al
Qaeda's first time trying to gain a foothold in India.India, a predominantly
Hindu nation, has a 13% Muslim population, according to the country's
census. Inter-religious relations have become tense before. In 2002,
Gujarat was wracked with anti-Muslim violence, in which more than 1,000
people, mostly Muslims, were killed. Most of the world's
Muslims live in Asia, with about 1 billion in Asia-Pacific and about 322
million in the Middle East and North Africa, according to the Pew
Research Center. The style of al Qaeda's
latest video also highlights a stylistic difference with ISIS, which are
often shot in the light during daytime, noted Peter Bergen, CNN's
national security analyst."Al-Zawahiri's video is boring, talking into the camera," he said. "ISIS videos are well-edited and dynamic."

Akute Residents tags Catholic seminarians as terrorists.

TheRE
was confusion in the Akute area of Ogun State on Tuesday as residents
accosted three Catholic Fathers-in-training, popularly called
seminarians, tagging them terrorists.
It was learnt that the three seminarians,
who were students of Franciscal Friars of the Emaculate Seminary
School, Sagamu, Ogun State, had come to the area on a visit to their
friend when they were mistaken for terrorists.
It was learnt that the students attracted the attention of the residents because they were dressed in white gowns.
A resident, who pleaded anonymity for
security reason, said, “The white gown attracted attention. One of them
even had a beard. Some of us stopped them to know their mission. But
before you know it, many people went to town that terrorists were in
Akute.”

rider, who also declined to give his name, said after interviewing the
students, the residents were convinced that they were not terrorists
He said, “Yes, we confronted three young
men dressed as Catholic Church priests. We initially thought that they
were Boko Haram members. However, after having a chat with them and
searching them, we discovered that they were not terrorists. We
subsequently allowed them to go. Nobody arrested them.”
The state Police Public Relations
Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the students were taken to the police
station where their identities were confirmed.
Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent of
Police, said, “Those seen and challenged by members of the public in the
Akute area were actually students of Franciscal Friars of the Emaculate
Seminary School Sagamu Ogun State.
“They were on a visit to a friend at
Kayode Afolabi Close, Mubarak Estate Akute,Ogun State, before a distress
call was put across to the Divisional Police Officer in Charge of
Ajuwon Division.
“The intending catholic priests were on
their normal white robes with beards which made the residents to be
suspicious that they were members of Boko Haram. They were taken to the
Police Divisional Office for interrogation where their identities were
confirmed.
“The leaders and representatives of the
seminary school in Sagamu, the Catholic Priest in Akute and some other
students of the school have visited the police division in Ajuwon to
identify them as their catholic members who are actually on training.”
Adejobi appealed to the general public to
always clarify issues before spreading wrong information, particularly
sensitive issues on security.

I'm done with Chris Oyakhilome; No going back on divorcing him - Anita Oyakhilome

Speaking with Premium Times through her lawyers, Mrs Oyakhilome said her relationship with her husband had terribly degenerated that there is no room for any reconciliation or out-of-court settlement. Find the full report after the cut...
Premium Times had contacted Mrs. Oyakhilome through her lawyers, Attwaters Jameson Hill Solicitors, after news broke that she had filed for divorce, to enquire whether any out-of-court settlement option was being explored.
In their response Tuesday, her attorneys said there was no chance the estranged couple would ever live as husband and wife again. “It is with great sadness that our client, Pastor Anita Oyakhilome, has come to the conclusion that her marriage to Pastor Christian Oyakhilome has irretrievably broken down and regrettably there is no hope of any reconciliation,” said Stephen Goddard, Business Development Manager of Attwaters Jameson Hill Solicitors.
From early this year, there had been speculation that the marriage between Mr Oyakhilome, the founder of Believers Love World (aka Christ Embassy), and his wife, who is also Vice-president of the ministry, was collapsing. Some church members even set up a Facebook page, “Where is Rev Anita Oyakhilome”, in May dedicated to addressing the issue.
The church initially denied reports that the couple were estranged and possibly divorcing. But TheCable news website reported on August 29 that Mrs. Oyakhilome had filed for divorce since April 9, accusing Pastor Chris, as he is fondly called by his followers, of “adultery” and “unreasonable behaviour”.
Pastor Chris has denied the allegations. He however warned church members against analysing his problem with his wife adding that the church is not a political party. He said his wife is a bitter and angry woman who is being influenced by bad friends who are out to seek his downfall.
The pastor added that most pastors’ wives usually think they are equal to their husbands after they get married. He said his wife wanted to overpower the authorities of the elders she met when she joined the Christian ministry.
As the divorce battle rages, Mrs. Oyakhilome’s profile has been pulled down from the church’s website.

Abia State stinks.-Arthur Eze
• ARTHUR EZE 1 SHOCKS GUESTS AT 23RD ANNIVERSARY CREATION OF ABIA STATE.
*DROP MICROPHONE ON THE FLOOR.
DO ABIA STATE HAVE ELDERS AT ALL OR ARE THEY ALL BLIND??
It was a bad day for Governor Theodore Amaefule Orji, as he assembled a battery of illustrious personalities to celebrate the 23rd anniversary of the creation of Abia State in Umuahia last Wednesday.
Rather than effusive praises, what came the way of the governor were a censure from no less a person than multi-billionaire, Chief Arthur Eze, who told the gathering dead pan that, “Abia State stinks.” Venue was the Michael Okpara Auditorium in Umuahia, the state capital, where the governor had gathered illustrious citizens of the state, some of whom were to be given awards to mark the 23rd anniversary. In the session of comments that preceded the awards ceremony, Chief Eze was recognised to speak, and what he said, sent cold chill running down the spines of majority of the people, particularly the governor. “Abia is stinking,” Eze, believed to have the largest oil bloc in Africa, bellowed. The audience was stupefied in shock, but more was to come. “Right from the Abia Tower in Umuahia, the rot hits you.
Abia State is now the dirtiest in the country. Garbage everywhere, along with bad roads. The people are really suffering, and you see it in their faces. Are there no elders in Abia again? If so, what are they doing? What are the senators, the members of House of Representatives and other elected people doing? Nothing.” Then, pointedly, Chief Eze told the governor: “If you do not know what to do again, please write to President Goodluck Jonathan, and let him come to your aid. Abia State needs help.” Having given the gathering a piece of his mind, Eze dropped the microphone on the floor, and walked out. It was a dazed Governor Orji who jerked himself out of stupor, and tried to rationalise what Arthur Eze had said. He told the crowd that the man was referring to the collapsed Port Harcourt / Aba Expressway, which is a federal road. But the explanation sounded hollow to the governor himself, and after some time, he left the venue of the ceremony, without taking questions from journalists, as such occasion would have demanded. Speaking on the incident, an associate of Chief Eze, told Daily Sun that the state of Abia State was really dispiriting, with decay and despondency everywhere. “I am sure most of the dignitaries quietly agreed with Chief Eze, only that they could not do so openly. One must commend Chief Eze’s courage for being bold enough to speak out. Not many people can do so today. In Abia State today, there is the son of one of the elected officials, called The Wind, who is like a terror. He silences all opposition and deals ruthlessly with anyone in opposition to the government. So, not many people can speak out. But we must commend Chief Eze for his boldness and conviction.”
